We got the Farmers’ Market! November 15, 2007

Aw yeah, we just got the sweetest dibs on a location for our wedding spectacular…the Ithaca Farmers’ Market! Picture an outdoor market, with a roof, on a sunny waterway leading to Cayuga Lake, replete with dock, electricity, and (drumroll please…….) BATHROOMS! Funny how everything always comes back to biological function, eh? The picture above is an aerial shot from MSN Live Search Maps “Bird’s Eye View” looking south, with the green roof of the Farmers’ Market in the upper left corner and the Cayuga Lake Inlet bisecting the photo. Cass Park is on the west (right) side of the channel, boasting a 2.5 mile trail that winds around athletic fields, a children’s garden, a swimming pool, and a theater constructed in one of the old hangars from the former airport that was located here.
Erin Bohman grew up in Farmington, MO. She started her college career at Missouri State University in Springfield, where she enjoyed the Ozark Mountains. A longing for the West and younger mountains drew her to the University of Montana in Missoula, MT, where she finished her degree in biology and met Charles (her TA for mammalogy!). After several years of travel and field jobs, she and Charles now live in Ithaca, NY. Read more about her travels over the last year at
Growing up on the outskirts of Cleveland was hard on charles, and after numerous attempts to swim the Cuyahoga River he was forced to don protective gear to block the sun's deadly rays. From time to time he writes about Sapsucker Woods (where he currently works)--read more about it at
I recommend going to the Farmers’ Market in the AM the morning of the wedding, and then experiencing the same location that evening for a totally different effect. The Market is so alive in the AMs, full of wonderful produce, eats, and life! It will be full of love and life the night of Aug. 31st, too!
Hello,
I am currently looking into the Farmer’s Market as a possible reception place for my wedding next year!
Would you mind being asked some questions?
I couldn’t find an email on this website, mine is matthew.mendell@gmail.com
