Let’s face it: everything food-related in Ithaca is overpriced and for the most part, bland. But the fun part about finding a caterer for the reception is that we get to go around and taste- taste-taste the goods before we commit. Although we have dreams of tasty treats for the wedding, we also have to remain within budget, and given our shared appetites for good food (and good drinks!) I have a feeling that it will take a LOT of taste testing to arrive at a consensus
So-what about your thoughts? Anyone have experience with central NY caterers that they would like to share? Menu ideas, yummy dishes you’ve had at other weddings (or at your own) that were hits? We’d love to leverage your experience into a fun and great-tasting dinner for the reception.
Feel free to leave us a comment about your foodie thoughts (the comment button is at the top of the post), or drop us an email! We’ll post more as we learn more…
Erin Bohman grew up in Farmington, MO. She started her college career at Missouri State University in Springfield, where she enjoyed the Ozark Mountains. A longing for the West and younger mountains drew her to the University of Montana in Missoula, MT, where she finished her degree in biology and met Charles (her TA for mammalogy!). After several years of travel and field jobs, she and Charles now live in Ithaca, NY. Read more about her travels over the last year at
Growing up on the outskirts of Cleveland was hard on charles, and after numerous attempts to swim the Cuyahoga River he was forced to don protective gear to block the sun's deadly rays. From time to time he writes about Sapsucker Woods (where he currently works)--read more about it at
